Busfield: Soprano
Simone Curley:

Anna Kucharska:
Harpsichord

Speranza Ensemble,
which specialises in the historically- informed performance of Early
Music, was formed in 2004. Its debut concert took place in St. Luke`s
(Old St., London) as a part of the LSO Discovery Concert Series. The
prevailing idea in the trio`s artistic programme is to explore the rich
repertoire for soprano, recorders and harpsichord from the Baroque and
Renaissance periods.
Speranza’s
repertoire includes the pastoral cantatas of Pepusch and the religious
compositions of G. Ph. Telemann, as well as various works by composers such as
Scarlatti, Vivaldi, Handel, Arne and Purcell. The ensemble also regularly
perform their own arrangements of Renaissance consort music. Speranza Ensemble
has performed at various venues in London and throughout the UK and has also
toured internationally, including festivals in the Netherlands and in Poland.

'Three talented young artists
unite to perform under the name Speranza Ensemble.......Sarah
Busfield`s musicality
and her
voice of
extraordinary
beauty moved listeners and transported them to
the atmosphere
and emotional world
of old times.......Instruments
under the fingers
of Simone and Anna
enliven in a way which
delights listeners
and contradicts
the stereotypical
opinions about the
instrument's
small
possibilities. Simone has
the whole family of recorders under her command showing amazing sensitivity and
impressive professionalism....... The harpsichord is a world of great aesthetic
experience for Anna who really sees it as her mission to create truly authentic
performances."'

'Former
students of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama’s postgraduate Early Music
programme, these three gifted young musicians delighted an appreciative
audience with their finely balanced and sensitive performance. It was a joy and
privilege to hear them vividly expressing the wide range of ideas and feelings
of the Baroque composers. Thank you Speranza.'
